So this is goodbye, of a sorts. I have decided to shut down One Angry Gamer. There are a few reasons for this in fact.
1) I am not really "angry" anymore.
2) I have way too many blogs floating around.
3) I dislike the Blogger system, no offense.
So what have I done? Well I am not stopping my blogging and in fact will probebly pick up more often now. Instead, I merged this blog and my previous Adventures in Warmachine blog with my newest creation - Iron Kingdom Adventures which is my primarily Warmachine / Hordes blog, but is also now going to be my singular blog of choice.
I hope you all join me there. See ya later folks :)

The Brutal Truth
So yesterday on Rocktober 13th I picked up Brutal Legend. I had this game on preorder for over 3 months and was happy to get ahold of it.
So overall, so far I have enjoyed the game, save for 1 thing. And that is what I want to talk about. The RTS elements. There is no reason for them to be in this game. In fact, they drive me nuts. The controls for them are very basic, I can't really command things easily, and I have to be in a specific radius of my units to even COMMAND THEM! And some of the boss battles are in fact RTS fights. The concept behind the RTS stuff is interesting. You are basically having a "rock" battle with each person having a stage, and you have to capture Fan Nodes to generate fans to buy merch to fuel your unit purchases.
Sounds like fun right? Cept for the controls and the order system. Your units are insane, the computer is damn smart, and the fights take forever. My personal favorite is when you face *SPOILER* General Lionwyte. Its this huge multilevel palace where you have to fight your way up. If you didnt find a couple of "tabs" or spells to help you the fight would literally take forever. PROTIP - Explore the world. Seriously. You will find 2 spells that make these blasted RTS sequences easier by a bit. Then right after that fight is yet ANOTHER RTS FIGHT. ARG
I love the game, the enviroments, and the story. But god help me I HATE THE RTS STUFF. WHY IS IT HERE?! I bought this game to rock and to massacre enemies, not to sit there and go YOU GUYS GO THERE NO NOT THERE ARG YOU ARE BEING KILLED! *head desk*
I had to stop after that last one. God help me anytime I have to use the "unit controls" and you will, alot, I die a little inside.

Rant: 3rd Ed D&D vs 4th Ed D&D
Ok so this is one of those times where the term "One Angry Gamer" will actually apply, because I am pissed off and over it. This rant is really springing from a small part of a conversation with a friend of mine this morning. If you read this girl, I am sorry but you just pushed me over the edge.
Basically I am referring to the divide that is apparent between 4th Edition D&D Players and 3rd Ed players. Basically the D&D community was split back when 4th Ed came out, and has not recovered. You have people on both sides of the fence bad mouthing the other game, stating various insults. Most of the insults I see however are from 3rd Ed players in regards to 4th Ed. Some of my personal favorites include:
"If I wanted to play WoW I would"
"D&D is not a video game and shouldn't be like one!"
"4th Ed is too easy and its players are stupid and can't take a challenge!"
Those are my personal favorites, but there are plenty others. So, to those 3rd Ed Diehards I have this to say:
SHUT THE FLYING FUCK UP AND GO PLAY YOUR DAMN BROKEN 3RD ED YOU RETARDS!
I am sick of it! 4th Ed is a different game, and me, personally? I prefer it! As a DM and a player, I prefer 4th Ed. And here is why! The game firstly for me is more fun. Simple as that. No longer do I feel punished for playing a 1st level character. NO longer do I feel, if I play a spellcaster, useless at levels lower then 10. I can play what I want and generally have a good time and be effective.
As a DM the game itself is easier to plan. No more ECL and "What challenge rating is this when combined with this?!" and other such nonsense. For those who like that? Great, more power to ya! I don't. I want to focus on crafting a great story and let the combat planning go smoothly. 4th Ed allows me this. If anyone has ever played 3rd Ed, you should know that the following usually apply:
Most people never start at 1st level. They usually start around 4th.
After about 12th level and prestige classes the spellcasters usually outclass the melee characters
Before 8th level the Melee characters outclass the spellcasters.
Now does that seem balanced? No, its really not. In 4th Ed each class has a more defined role, and you will excel in that roll unless you suck. I have been playing an Artificer, and he is doing very well in his role, that of a buffer/healer/leader. If I was playing a wizard or caster class in 3rd Ed at this level I would be able to go "Spell on the 1st turn, spell on the second turn, CROSSBOW FROM NOW ON!" Where the hell is the fun in that?! In fact, alot of people will play 3rd ed like this:
Have a fight, rest for 8 hours. Have another fight, rest another 8 hours.
Its called the 5 min workweek. Thankfully you don't have to do that in 4th Ed. So you fuckers who love your 3rd ed cause you have to do that? GOOD JOB GUYS! YOU ARE SO REALISTIC YOU KNOW FIGHTING FOR 5 MINUTES THEM CAMPING OUT. WHOO HOO. As a DM I hated this, it made timed events and the like hard to plan, cause half the time the party would have to rest every 5 minutes and would run out of time.
Now there are a few things I admit I miss from 3rd Ed, and that is primarily the Skills. However, at the same time there were a MILLION skills (I am exaggerating), but people only used like 10. Who the hell really used Craft or Profession? I know I didn't and no one I played with ever did in the 4 years I played 3rd Ed. And even then, a good DM can fudge a skill check and use an ability check for it. EXAMPLE! I have a Bard in my game. There is no perform skill. However, he wanted to be able to play his music for people and wanted to actually make it a check. So, I gave him the Perform skill as a trained skill. TADA. PROBLEM SOLVED OMG I ACTUALLY MADE SOMETHING UP IN A GAME OF MAKEBELIVE!
In the end I actually don't harbor any ill will towards those who prefer 3rd Ed. But I am sick and tired of listening to them bash 4th. Keep your damn mouths shut and play your damn game.
Or hell, go play Pathfinder. Its the new version of 3rd Ed anyway.
Fuckers.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
So last week, the day it came out, I went and got myself a copy of MUA 2 (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2). Lets talk about this newest Action RPG. Firstly, its light on the RPG part. You basically have no specific equipment for each character, but rather have a global inventory of "Boosts" which are like medals. You get more by both defeating signature foes, finding them on a map, or completing character specific objectives, like killing 5 guys with 1 non fusion special.
In general this doesn't bother me too much but does feel dumbed down in the sense that I cannot specialize each person to play to their strengths. However, at the same time I have to be more strategic in what I choose for boosts because it effects the whole team. In my opinion its kinda wash here. For the other RPG elements, such as powers and whatnot, there is not alot of choice. Each character has 4 active powers, and then 4-8 Passives. Each passive has to be unlocked for alot of em, based on whether or not you choose Pro or Anti registration during the game. Thankfully when you play on New Game + (Legendary Difficulty) you keep the unlocked options it seems. I haven't gotten to the choice though so I will let you all know bout that.
With 24 heroes there are alot of options. However, about 3-4 are locked out depending on your choice of sides when the time comes. Also, a few are unlocked by finding items strewn about maps. That personally bothers me. Thor, Hulk, and Jean Grey are 3 that I know are found with items. I got Thor, but not the others yet. Also, each hero has 1 single alternate coustume, and the touted 250+ Fusion special attacks (where 2 heroes team up in a big attack) are really just copies of each other. Thor + Deadpool and Penance + Deadpool = Big Whirlwind of Explosions. Same with Green Goblin + Thor ect. So really there are maybe 20ish different actual fusion animations.
Finally there is the story. Overall its ok. They took some liberties with the Civil War storyline, and Secret War by adding some strange nanite infection. Its kinda interesting.
Overall, I am rambling, but the game is at least a solid rental. I beat it in a grand total of 11 hours on the standard difficulty, and am not having any issues playing Legendary thus far. Hell, I only died 3 times while in the regular difficulty. The game is at best a party game.
3.5/5 is my score.

Cataclysm
So, Blizzcon is upon us now. I subscribed to the web stream myself, and last night when I got home I watched the opening ceremony and the WoW preview panel. They announced, of course, the next WoW Expansion which is Cataclysm. So lets talk about what we know so far!
Features:
1. Revamped Azeroth - This has me interested greatly. Azeroth in and of itself has gotten stale for me. Boring. I know all the quests, I know all the zones. The hidden stuff. Playing for nearly 4 years will do that to ya. So I am interested to see how things are going to be "shook up". Also they are redoing the quests and rewards, so that sounds interesting as well.
2. New Races - Ok now this has me going 0_o. Worgen? Really? I mean sure they are nice, I guess, but I still don't really get it. It doesn't make a whole lotta sense to be honest. Goblins are a little easier to understand simply because of the way gobbo society is setup, but its still a bit hard to swallow. I will play a Goblin though!
3. Race/Class Combos - Troll Druid. Tauren Paladin (HOLY COW!). Dwarf Shaman. Need I say more?
4. New Dungeons - Heroic SFK and Heroic Deadmines! Those sound entertaining!
5. Flight in Azeroth - This sounds boss. Plain and simple
I want to see more of the indepth panels tonight regarding classes and dungeons, but all in all its shaping up to be damn interesting. I really want to see if they can pull all this off. The new leveling up experience alone will be worth it I think. The only thing I don't like are the whispers of Garrosh becoming Warchief and killing off Cairne. But I can deal I think if that is true.

Quickie!
So I picked up Prototype over the weekend. Let me just say this. Thus far the game is CRAZY FUN. There is just something about bouncing all over a city and randomly absorbing people and becoming them.
If you have not played this give it a shot. I will do a more in depth review once I am done, but for now, its an awesome game.

Ghostbusting and Transforming!
Ok, so as I promised, here is a review and thoughts on 2 things. The new Ghostbusters game, and the Transformers movie. We shall start with the GOOD thing: The Ghostbusters game.
So, I ended up renting this game the day after it came out. I had the day off and figured I could start playing it and see how I felt about it. I hate buying brand new games only to discover I hate them (I am looking AT YOU FF12!) Anyway, I rented it and ended up starting it up later in the evening. It was an enjoyable experience.
Lets look at the opening. You are apparently a new recruit, and are never given a name. For once, a game comes up with a reason for this! Venkman doesn't want to get attached to you, after what happened to the "other guy". You are their Experimental Weapons Technician, aka the Guy who tests stuff that could blow you into New Jersey. Ehehehe...not sure I want that job. The voice acting was decent, save for Venkman. Bill Murray seemed sorta...wooden at the start. As the game progressed he got better. Each character was well written, which I would expect given this game was written by Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd. As I played, I honestly felt like a Ghostbuster. However, there were some flaws.
1. The length. I played on the easiest setting, sure. Still only took me 8 hours total to beat the storyline. The shortness of this game made me sad, as I really wanted MORE story. It was fun beating up on the Staff Puff Marshmellow man, and the Librarian though.
2. Some of the Fights. I am not the best "run and gun" gamer, but for the most part I had no issue with the fights in this game...save for a few. There was a Library God boss who was SUPER cheap. Touching him would cause damage, and he would general body slam and then stand on you so each time you stood you would get knocked back down and damaged. He would do this constantly. Also, some of the bosses were WAY too easy! The Slor for example. So easy to avoid and hit and beat. Most of the time the fights were well balanced. OH! There was this scene in the last level, involving stone angels that have to be smashed to defeat. You have to smash them INTO a gate to break the gate. Problem? They fly, swarm, and focus on you first. Your team mate (Ray) is not the best at the smashing part, and will try to ress you if you get knocked out. What happens? They swarm him. Took me 3 tries to finally beat that blasted fight.
3. Bugs. I only encountered one, where Ray got stuck in a tree and wouldnt move. I had to restart to get him moved.
4. The save system. YOU CANNOT MANUALLY SAVE! Its all checkpoint based, and it NEVER indicates when you have reached a checkpoint! I never know where my saves are.
All in all this game is a solid rental, but I wouldn't spend my hard earned cash on it, unless you want to play Multiplayer. Which to be honest is not why I got the game. I give it 3.5 / 5
Now, on to...Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
I HATE THIS MOVIE DEAR GOD HAVE MERCY ON ITS SOUL I WILL END MICHAEL BAY AND SWALLOW HIS DICK OBESSED SOUL!
If that doesn't explain my feelings, let me elaborate. Basically, this movie is nothing more then low brow humour, dick jokes, sexual jokes, and racial jokes. For example: (SPOILERS!) in the first 20 minutes of the movie you witness 2 dogs humping 3 times. Also, you witness a kitchen appliance turn into a robot with a cannon attached to his crotch, which he THRUSTS FORWARD to fire. Also, later on, Devestator is shown to have a pair of ROBO BALLS, made out of Wrecking balls. In case you miss said balls John Tuturro is standing underneath them and actually says "I am underneath the enemies SCROTUM". Really. DID YOU HAVE TO FUCKING POINT THAT OUT?!
Then there are the twin Autobots, who get an OBSCENE amount of airtime. Mudflap and some other one. They are supposed to obviously be ghetto black analouges, complete with one having buck teeth, one of which being GOLD. They even say at once point "We gonna put a cap in yo ass". Seriously. I felt DIRTY after watching this.
Then there is the crazy amount of comedy relief characters. I think Spoony of the Spoony Experiment counted 13 total different characters, and I agree with that number. Seriously, its like EVERY OTHER CHARACTER Beyond the autobots and Sam are there for stupid jokes. And lets not forget Sam. That boy is an idiot! And of course he goes to ROBOT HEAVEN. Thats right, he dies, is sent to Robot Heaven to meet the other primes, and then COMES BACK TO LIFE.
I was seriously rooting for the Decepticons in this movie.
The other autobots barely get any screentime. We have a trio of Motorcycle bots, who are seen twice. We get Ironhide, who actually SPEAKS. We got a dude with a pair of arm blades who is seen twice and speaks once. I could barely tell who was what beyond Prime, the twins, Bumblebee, and Megatron and Starscream. Seriously, they all look alike.
I honestly came out of the movie feeling dirty, cheated out of my $5, and wanting those 2 and a half hours of my life BACK. I give this a 1 / 5. Oh, and lets not forget the shot of John Tuturro in a speedo, both back AND FRONT IN THE CENTER OF THE DAMN MOVIE SCREEN I DID NOT WANT TO SEE THAT DUDES PACKAGE WTF MAN!

Things my friends...THINGS
Firstly, I wanted to do a quickie update. I have started playing Warmachine, and started a blog devoted to my journey into the world of Warmachine/Hordes and miniatures gaming in general. You can view it here - http://advnwarmachine.blogspot.com/
Also, I am going to try to do more updates more often. I am crazy busy with work lately, and World of Warcraft, and gaming in general. I recently played the Ghostbusters game on the XBox, so I am going to write a review on that game. Also, I wanted to do a review on Transformers 2 the Movie. That will probebly be a video review, I don't know.
Finally, I am wanting to revamp my site. I am really not an angry gamer anymore. Not really. But I am still a true gamer in every sense of the word. I am probebly gonna remove a few of the links on the side bar, and redo the layout. Not sure what I can do. I am hoping to do get someone to do a nice logo for my site (Any fans out there think you can do it? HINT HINT?)
Overall, things are in the works. Also, I started my newest "Lets Play" of Lands of Lore the Throne of Chaos, which you can find on my youtube page and will be linked here.

Real Life Superheroes?
Ok this is crazy. First check out the following youtube video. This apparently is not a joke, and it makes me laugh hard.
Now then....check out this site: http://www.worldsuperheroregistry.com/
Yea. Crazy isn't it? I mean, it takes some balls to do this. Seriously. I would never do it unless I had actual super powers.
Earthbound is coming by the way folks. I have the footage just gotta get it edited and uploaded. Should be done between today and tomorrow.

Champions Online Beta Contest!
I am a big fan of Superhero MMO's. I played City of Heroes / City of Villains for a while. Never got a character to 50 though as the actual gameplay in that game is very very repeative. The missions basically devolve into instances of "Go here, touch this, beat this dude up" in the same maps over and over.
When I heard that there was another Superhero MMO in the works I was intrigued. Champions Online so far has lived up to what I had hoped. Total customization of my hero, a crazy array of of powers, and more classic MMO style gameplay.
The site ReRollz is running a contest right now, where they are giving away a total of 20 Beta Keys. 10 go to people with the best "Top 5 Reasons why I want to play Champions Online" list, and the other 10 are random to anyone who entered the contest. I entered but I won't tell you as what.
If I get into the Beta expect to hear some news. Feel free to check it our for yourself.

A Couple of Things
So I just wanted to actually WRITE something here rather then just posting videos. Firstly, I am going to be doing a review of DND 4th Edition, and I want to focus on some of the "issues" people seem to have with the new edition.
Also, I am taking suggestions of games to do Playthroughs of. The next game has already been chosen, but beyond that I am all ears. Anything that was on the PS1 or an earlier console is game. Although I need to get a video capture card for the PS1 stuff.
Finally, you might have noticed that the web address for this site is different. Thats right, I actually bought the domain www.oneangrygamer.com
I had thought about doing that for a while, but finally decided on doing it as I wanted to be more legit. I would like to spruce up this site but no NOTHING about coding. I also considered getting a free Forum from Invision or something but I doubt people would actually visit. I don't think I have enough fans/viewers for that.
In the world of gaming: Been working on my World of Warcraft characters. Patch 3.1 hit WoW, adding Ulduar as a raid instance, and a bunch of other stuff. My favorite thus far is the Argent Tournament. That thing is fun. Its like being an old school knight, jousting and what not.
I was considering doing a playthrough or review of both Penny Arcade adventures. If you haven't played them, I suggest you do. Even if you don't like Penny Arcade, the games themselves, while short, are well polished and alot of fun.
I am also looking for a couple of fun indie games. I want to see what the web has to offer but its a pain to find the stuff. Once again, got any suggestions then hit me up. I was looking at Braid and a few others. But I want more.
